Chimney Sweep in Rescue California

Another chimney sweep in Rescue, California. This particular home was pretty tricky. The stove has a horizontal vent through the wall, plus a very tall roof which requires two ladders.

Stoves that use a horizontal pipe are a challenge because they collect more creosote that vertical pipes. So it’s very important to make sure that those pipes are brushed out completely. In this case, the pipe needed to be completely disconnected from the stove and wall, taken outside, and swept out. Then re-installed.

Overall, this pipe definitely needed to be cleaned after three years. As you can see in the photos, before I swept the chimney, the top of the pipe shows creosote accumulating on the inside.

We recommend, for stoves that are used heavily through the Winter, to have the chimney swept once a year to assure it continues to be safe to use.
